The 4th annual Roast and Ride drew over 1,000 people to the sunny Central Iowa Expo in Boone. Joni welcomed Staff Sergeant Travis Mills, one of only five quadruple amputees from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to survive his injuries, and donated proceeds of the Ride to the Travis Mills Foundation to support his mission of helping fellow recalibrated warriors. Governor Kim Reynolds rumbled in on the back of a Harley and joined special guest Trey Gowdy in firing up the crowd.
More than 500 motorcycles made their way from Des Moines to Boone on a beautiful June day for the 3rd annual Roast and Ride. Proceeds from the Ride were donated to Hope for the Warriors, a charity dedicated to assisting combat wounded service members and their families. Vice President Mike Pence, along with Republican leaders from across the state and country joined Joni in speaking to more than a thousand attendees.
Before a crowd of nearly 2,000, Joni welcomed then GOP Presidential Nominee Donald J. Trump to the Iowa State Fairgrounds for the 2nd Annual Roast and Ride. President Trump discussed issues of importance to all Iowans and was joined by Governor Branstand, Lt. Governor Reynolds, Senator Chuck Grassley and U.S. Representatives Rod Blum, David Young and Steve King.
The inaugural Roast and Ride welcomed 1,500 Iowans to Boone for 500 pounds of BBQ and seven candidates for the Republican nomination for President, including Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Fmr. Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Fmr. Texas Governor Rick Perry, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL). They were joined by state officials including Governor Branstad, Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds and US Senator Chuck Grassley.
